The ClearCables Story

ClearCables was founded by Mr. Shane White, an audiophile and A/V gear enthusiast.

Our founder, Mr. White, began his love of all fine things dealing with audio as a teenage car audio competitor.  He had taken a hands on approach to mobile competition, including selecting components, designing, and installing systems on his own.  After becoming a trophied competitor, his interest in competition waned, and he began pursuing ways to improve his system so it would render the music exactly as the artist intended.   He fabricated his own interconnect cables using twisted pairs of copper wires, because nothing available at the time offered the noise rejection and build quality  he desired.  Back then, the only analog interconnect available was a form of coaxial cable.  In the mobile audio environment, plain coaxial picked up a lot of noise during the journey from head unit to trunk, where high end gear resides in a competition car stereo.  White heard the increased clarity and noise rejection of his twisted pair geometry interconnects.  This early experience in interconnect cable construction laid the groundwork for the formation of ClearCables, a company designed to bring professional quality to the consumer at a reasonable price.

Fast forward 10 years:  After having built a formidable Home Theater / Audio Rig, White felt there was one major weakness in his system - just like he had experienced during his car audio days - his interconnect cables.  Despite having purchased expensive name brand cables, he felt that better products could be had for reasonable prices...so he did his homework.  He began by asking several questions:  What kind of interconnects do recording studios use?  What are the cable choices of professional musicians?  How is a cable produced by "Brand X" really constructed, and is it worth the price?  What are the desired specifications of a particular cable, and do mass produced brands conform to these desires?  To answer these questions, White purchased leading brands in many price ranges.  He took them apart.  He found out what materials they were made of, how they were constructed.  Above all else, he listened to them.  When researching video cables, he hooked up multiple brands to his A/V rig and looked for subtle differences in color shift, convergence, and clarity. 

In short, our founder decided that the mass produced brands are inferior in construction, video, and sound quality, and overpriced for what the consumer receives.  Many of the exotic brands have what one of our audiophile friends calls an "aura of magic foo foo dust" - A Voodoo like performance claim that cannot be substantiated using science nor the human ears.

The research and experimentation White completed and the findings that were made brought forth a cable brand that stood out, and was an outstanding value - Canare brand professional audio and video cables.  White was so impressed with these cables, which are only available to professional studios, musicians, and OEM manufacturers, that he decided to form a small company to manufacture these and make them available to other audio/video enthusiasts and musicians.

What does the ClearCables A/V rig look like?

A picture is worth a thousand words:

The behemoth you see in the right of the picture below is a custom built, one of a kind, HSU RESEARCH subwoofer that houses a pair of 12" HSU drivers.  It stands 5' 7" tall, and is nicknamed Thor.  Normal mass produced cables just couldn't muster the performance to feed Thor and give a quality signal to the Mitsubishi Diamond Series HDTV.  Naturally, Thor is fed with a 3.5 meter length of Canare 4S11 Speaker Cable, and the Mitsubishi Diamond Series TV is fed with Canare LV-77S Component Video Cables.  DVD-Audio interconnects are Canare L-4E6S Balanced Analog Interconnect Cables.
